The question is often asked, “What is in a name?” When your name is Alonzo Harris, the
answer becomes clear: talent, intellect, genius, and gifted. With his musical talents,
Alonzo expresses his love for the gift in many aspects. As a part time faculty member of
the Berklee College of Music family, Harris has shared his knowledge of the music with
students daily as assistant professor of music in Ensemble performance. He is also an
active performer. He has served in many capacities, such as musical director,
keyboardist/ pianist/ organist, and vocalist. With skillful ingenuity and a peculiar
development of personal style, Alonzo adds distinct flavor to various productions on
stage and in the studio. His musical gifts extend beyond merely singing and playing
keyboard instruments; he is also a producer, songwriter, arranger and composer, working
with several artists in a variety of genres, including Gospel, R&B, Pop, Hip Hop,
Chamber music, and Avante-Guard Improvisations as well. His resume also includes
collaborations with Atlantic Records, MBK Entertainment, RCA Records, Universal
Republic, S-Curve Records, Malaco Records, MNM Productions, Progressive Musik
Group, A1 Music Productions, Night Life Executives, Jamdo Jamdo Music, Boston Red
Sox Nation, A7, INC, 617Productions, Save Ourselves Productions, and Streat Music

Alonzo Harris has a Bachelor’s of Music (B.M.) in Creative Music Technologies from
LaGrange College and a Master’s of Music (M.M.) from New England Conservatory of
Music with a concentration in Contemporary Improvisation – piano and voice. Harris has
distinguished himself as an accomplished producer, composer, arranger, songwriter, and
musician. He has served as the producer and music director for various artists/ projects
and performances, including major television networks – VH1, BET, TV ONE, FOX,
CBS, TBN, WORD Network, the Angel Network, local television stations, and The
Gospel Music Channel (GMC). He is an esteemed scholar in Black Musical Styles and
improvisation methodology and aesthetics. He has shared his professional knowledge
academically through an original course, Urban Contemporary Music, which he
developed upon arrival to the SUNY Oneonta Music Industry faculty in Fall 2006, as
well as professor of Audio Arts Production. Harris’ professional experience also includes,
Professor of Humanities at Roxbury Community College, SPCS instructor for
Northeastern University, International Instructor for the Seoul Music Institute Summer
music program 2007, and producing for Progressive Musik Group, a production company
in which he partners with producer and engineer, Arcelious “ATP” Harris.

Upon a recent Grammy Nominated album credit, Alonzo Harris has also had the
esteemed privilege of working with industry professionals such as, Multi-platinum and
Grammy Award-winning R&B recording artist, Betty Wright, Grammy Award-winning
producer/ songwriter Michael E. Mathis, Grammy Award winning Producer, Dawuan
Parker (Aftermath Productions), MacArthur Award-winner, Ran Blake, esteemed and
legendary conductor, Julius Williams, Grammy Award Winning engineer, Prince Charles
Alexander, Onree Gill (Musical Director for the Apollo Theatre and Alicia Keys), R&B
artist and Hollywood actor, Tyrese, Shirley Ceasar, Dorothy Norwood, Dominique Eade,
International Pop icon, Chris Willis, Lee Johnson, Maysa, Dr. Bobby Jones, Hankus
Netsky, James Bignon, Derek Lee, Angelo Morris, K. Michelle, and D-Sharp
Entertainment. His unique musical ability has been heard throughout the world in a range
of genres and venues, including Madison Square Garden and the Apollo Theatre. Alonzo
works endlessly to produce and co-produce stage productions and performances
including, community outreach events, concerts, and performances.

Alonzo has also earned recognition for his compositional skills that date back to 2003, as
the first place winner in the Goliard Competition for his chamber composition “First
Impression.” Upon his admittance to the Master’s of Music program at New England
Conservatory, he received an NEC scholarship for two years in a row. As of summer
2007, Harris was featured in the LaGrange College Columns Magazine as one of the most
successful alumni of LaGrange College in the area of Creative Music Technology. In
2010, Alonzo was featured on showcases and tour as musical director and keyboardist for
2012 winner of “The Voice,” Jermaine Paul (Freedom Tour: Alicia Keys, Robin Thicke,
Melonie Fiona, Beyonce and Jay-z), MBK/ RCA Records recording artist, Elle Varner,
Gabi Wilson, Daisha Graf, and former Destiny’s Child original member, Letoya Luckett,
and Anthony Hall. 2011, he also shared in a Grammy Nomination with Betty Wright for
her single, “GO,” as a response to domestic violence in the Traditional R&B vocal
performance category, as well as a Grammy Nomination for Wright’s album, “The
Movie” in 2012. Most recently, his arrangements that span from the Big band sounds of
Ray Charles inspired music to small band/ rhythm section have been heard on reality TV
networks, such as VH1, NPR radio, and on various stages, as musical director/ arranger
and keyboardist/ pianist for various artists, including the Berklee College of Music tribute
to the music of Quincy Jones.

Alonzo enjoys sharing his gift of music to the world. He believes that what is from the
heart, reaches the heart.
